Medical cannabis can only be administered if the patient has a current written certification from a board-registered practitioner. Medical marijuana certifications in Virginia are only valid for one year. Thus, if your certificate is set to expire, you must submit for cannabis certificate renewal in Virginia. Is this, however, necessary? Yes! But why is this so?

When Kyle Truong needed medical attention for a respiratory infection last year, he said there weren't many convenient options for accessing timely care. Truong, who lives in Toronto, hasn't had a family doctor for about four years.
But then he discovered a private clinic where he could quickly get an appointment with a nurse practitioner, though it would not be covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).
"First I was a little disappointed," Truong, 29, said. "Because if I'm paying tax dollars and we're supposed to have great health-care coverage, it kind of sucks that I have to pay for accessibility in this case."

Hi, May I ask what type of nurse you are? And what’s it like
I am a nurse practitioner (which is a sort of advanced RN - kind of a step above a nurse but several steps below a doctor) in a neurology clinic. Although I do a little bit of everything, I mostly focus my practice on patients with multiple sclerosis.
As far as what it's like ... it's stressful. I love my patients (mostly), and helping people truly brings me joy, but there is so much that goes into my job that is just shitty. Documentation, insurance authorizations, appeals, time constraints and access issues all are a huge part of the things about my job that I hate. I spend on average 32 hours per week seeing patients, and my job allots me 8 hours for the "asynchronous/administrative work" but in general I work about 50-60 hours per week to keep my head above water. It's a huge issue when it comes to work-life balance, and if I quit for anything it will be over that, not the patients.
Which is sort of a very sad commentary on modern American healthcare, tbh.

i arrived late to a lecture about global health and inequity in healthcare and the only seats open were towards the men's side by Allah why are males so fucking stupid
#the entire lecture they were saying the presentation is liberal propaganda bcs... it said minorities often don't get adequate healthcare?#we literally attend one of the strictest conservative universities in a conservative country WHAT are you saying#these 20 year old adults still haven't grown out of their edgy anti sjw phase and they're going to be DOCTORS i hate it here#inshallah they fail inshallah they drop out YA RAB#like even during the intro to medical ethics lecture last semester they weren't taking it seriously it's actually so scary#that most of them Will end up being practitioners#🩺

#wow ok so the new nurse practitioner im connected with is uh. The Worst Person#extremely discriminatory#doesnt give a fuck about her patients well being or health#wont do her job properly even when its fucking over said patients#is lazy as shit and tries to get out of doing any work whatsoever even just checking a fax#and has now screwed my healthcare over bc she's going on vacation for 2 weeks and DIDNT INFORM ME even tho i have tests scheduled#and am supposed to start meds that r extremely time sensitive#but now i just. Cannot access them bc she wont prescribe them before she leaves#so uh. ok. we're fuckin Done w this#gonna talk to my support worker tomorrow and explain and ask for a referral outside the program#which suuuucks bc that means said NP would have to do it and im sure she'll put up a fight but uh#ya no sweetie we r done w this#u hate disabled ppl and think my life and health is a joke#u have spent 3 weeks sabotaging any attempts i have made at getting adequate care and access to resources#genuinely and actually Fuck Off And Die#this is. truly infuriating i rly dont have words#like hooo boy if i had to quote some of the shit she's said and done y'all would be shocked#which is rly saying something considering the abysmal state of healthcare in most countries rn#aiyaiyai#Fuck This#i am. so so so done

Alberta will soon allow nurse practitioners to open their own independent clinics in a move the provincial government promises will expand primary care access. Health Minister Adriana LaGrange made the announcement Wednesday that independent practices would be able to open starting early next year. It comes as Albertans often go without routine medical care due to a shortage of family doctors.

the ac broke in my apartment and t*xas has been so so hot, so i’ve spent the week at Books’ place and it’s been. gosh
sunday, i went for a good hike with a friend, met Books at work for their lunch break, and then went to theirs. monday, we studied together and played mario kart (first time since i was a child!). tuesday, i studied while they were in (zoom) class and then i went to the movies (twbb my beloved!) to give them some breathing room to decompress after their counseling session; late in the evening we went to the gym together and then for a delightful night swim bc the courtyard pool was empty and dark and warm and i haven’t been swimming in probably a decade but it’s so hot and it was so lovely. i had been planning on doing a fun outdoor activity for the solstice on wednesday, but it was blistering out there, so we stayed in, indulgently enjoyed the air conditioner, rewatched s1 of the bear, and ordered takeout from a jamaican place that’s gradually becoming one of my favorite restaurants in the city. today we slept late and chilled out until i came back to my place.
tomorrow night, we’re going to a party together. next week will also surely be delightful. they’re getting a weekend off next month and i’m gonna plan something fun for them. i’m hoping that this is a good indicator of what our life will be like together. i can’t wait to find out!
#but first i need to move out of this shithole apartment#and before that i need to find a new apartment#and before that i need to get a job#and before that i need to take a nightmare exam so i can be a licensed and registered healthcare practitioner#and that exam… is scheduled for next monday 🥴 and i do not feel confident!! 🥴🥴🥴#also tmi we have had a lottttt of sex this week#this is the longest i’ve ever regularly had sex with someone and#yeah we’ve gotten into a routine but we’re still changing it up and trying new things too which is fun#we also had a good convo last night about some things they were maybe a little insecure about#and some of their gender/sexuality stuff that was good to get clarification on#gosh it’s just been really good. like we are definitely past the honeymoon phase and i still like them so much#which is a little scary but mostly very good
